An endearing mistake

“Linda, come on. It’ll be fun. The club is very happening. You know what, there are popular stars and idols coming to that club. Let’s go. It will not hurt, right?” her best friend, Yuki persuaded her.

Linda frowned. She had a bad feeling about it. “But, we have exams next week. FINAL EXAMS! And you still want to play? So what if there are stars or idols frequent there? They can’t help you with your exam,” she pointed out.

“Linda, don’t be such a nerd. Just go, for fun?” she persuaded till Linda agreed to go.

A few hours later, after Yuki had decided on what they should wear and a series of ‘Linda, you are not going to look like a granny’, ‘Lin, you are embarrassing me wearing that long skirt’, etc, they managed to get out of Yuki’s apartment.

Linda kept pulling her skimpy top which showed a lot of skin. Linda looked at herself in despair. Fancy being forced to wear a push-up bra and a bright pink one too! But she had to admit that she looked very pretty in that outfit.

Yuki and Linda went in the club and started to mingle around. Linda followed around, unsure of what to do. As they were talking and looking around for stars, a couple of guys sat next to them. “You guys alone?” a guy asked.

The guys were very good-looking and looked very familiar. Yuki whispered to her, “These are Johnny’s boys!”

Linda looked at them and nodded. “We’ll buy you a drink, ok?” the other guy smiled at them.

Linda shook her head, “It’s ok. We had already drank. We can’t afford to drink much as we have lectures tomorrow.”

“Let’s not be shy. I’m Nishikido and this is my pal, Yamashita. There’s another one, Tegoshi but he’s in the toilet. How about you girls?” Ryo asked.

Yuki introduced them and they started chatting. Linda had a low tolerance for alcohol and so she easily got drunk. “Yuki, I’m not really feeling well,” Linda whispered.

Yuki looked at her. She still wanted to chat with the boys and wanted to sing with Tegoshi. Yamashita volunteered to send her back. “It’s ok. We live very near to each other. I can drop her off,” Yamapi replied.

He helped her into his car. Linda who is already drunk, did not realize her actions and started to trace his face and biting his earlobe playfully as he carried her to his car. “Umm…please stop doing this,” he asked her gently.

Linda laughed at him. “Sorry,” she apologized.

A few minutes after he put her in his car, she fell asleep. Yamapi chuckled and touched his ear. “She must be pretty drunk to remember what she did,” he thought to himself.

Yamapi was rather drunk himself. After a few minutes of driving, he decided not to continue for fear of an accident. He turned into a hotel nearby to spend the night to be safe. The hotel was fully booked and the only room left was a room with a queen bed. Yamapi took it as he could not hold on any longer as his vision started to blur. He placed the sleeping girl on one side and he lay on the other side. He switched off the lights and curtains to sleep. He turned and saw Linda sleeping peacefully, looking attractive in the moonlight.

Alcohol started to overcome him and he move nearer to her. He placed his lips nearer to hers and began to lick her lips. He smiled when he tasted her strawberry lip gloss. He started to kiss her. Linda stirred and returned his kiss unknowingly.

The small little action led them to do a deed without them realizing it which is the beginning of a problem.

Unknown to them, nature had already started to take its place. Within the next few hours, the fusion of Pi’s and Linda’s genes had occurred and the cells were slowly dividing themselves up. By the time both of them woke up, a new life had already been created and is struggling to live.

Linda woke up, her head started to throb and she felt pain all over. She felt something warm around her and saw something creamy in front her. She blinked her eyes and was surprised to find herself in an unknown man’s arms. She pushed him away and lifted the blanket and was horrified to find both of them stark naked.

Linda got out of bed and ran to the bathroom with her clothes. She locked the door and began to scrub herself as tears flowed. “What have I done? What have I done?” she muttered, tearfully.

Linda’s sobs woke Yamapi up. He himself was surprised to see himself. He tried to remember what happened last night but nothing came to mind. All he could remember was switching the lights off and looked at a woman. “Linda! Oh no, what have I done?” he muttered as he dressed himself up.

He sat down on the bed, waiting for her to come out. Linda came out, her eyes red from crying. He wanted to hug her but she recoiled. “I’m sorry. This is my number. If…anything happens to you……please call me,” he begged her.

Linda looked away from him. “I don’t want anything from you. Go away,” she said softly.

“I’ll send you home,” he offered.

“I can go home myself,” she rejected his offer and went off.

Yuki was waiting for Linda, worried as she did not come back last night. “Linda! Where did you go? What happened to you?” she asked, looking at her from head to toe.

Linda looked at her blankly and went in without a word. Linda refused to tell her what happened till a few weeks later after their exams were over.

Linda knew something was wrong when she missed her period that month but she denied it. She tried to assure herself that it was just an exam stress which caused her to miss her period. She went on with her daily life without thinking much.

Her appetite started to get larger by day. She craved for food and would throw tantrum if she could not get it. “Linda, you are getting fat if you continue eating too much,” Yuki teased her.

“I’m not fat. Besides, I’m hungry. Is it a crime for me to eat a lot?” she defended herself.

“If you do not watch it, you will gain a belly. Just look at your tummy now,” she pointed.

Linda looked at her tummy and felt scared. She counted mentally how long that incident had happened. It was 2 months ago. Her blood went cold. “Linda, are you ok? You look pale,” Yuki asked, worried.

Linda shook her head and smiled. “It’s fine. I need to go. I’ll see you later, ok?” Linda replied and ran off.

She went to a local pharmacy and bought a test kit. She hurried home and tested herself. To her horror, what she suspected came true.

“Yuki, please…come over..” Linda cried over the phone.

Yuki being worried, rushed over. “Linda, what’s wrong?” she asked.

Linda told her what happened through her sobs. Yuki felt guilty as she was the one persuading her to go. “I’m sorry. I should have never let you go home with him. Do you have his number?” she asked.

Linda nodded and gave her the phone. Yuki took it and went to another room to talk to the guy. A few hours later, he showed up. “Are you feeling ok?” he asked Linda.

Linda nodded her head and looked away. “What are you going to do about this?” Yuki asked him.

“Let’s abort it,” Linda replied.

“No,” he objected.

“Why? You are a super idol. I am just about to have my own life. Now, I am going to be a mother! I can’t bring up a child alone!” Linda screamed at him.

“Who says you are bringing the child alone? I will be responsible for it,” he replied.

Linda smirked. “Responsible? Like? You men will only give money and think they have done their part. I will have to wake up in the middle of the night, looking after the child, feed the child and more worse, people will be prejudiced against me for having a child out of wedlock! I will have the bad name but you go off scot-free. I do not need your money if you think that is being responsible,” Linda shouted at him.

Yamapi looked at her. “That’s not what I meant. I’ll marry you,” he said.

Linda looked at him, stunned. “Are you crazy? Marry me? After marrying, you will go off with other women behind my back. I do not need that. We don’t even know each other, much less love each other,” Linda refused.

Yamapi frowned. “We will know each other better in time. I know we can make our marriage work, not only for the child’s sake but for our own sake too. Let’s give it a try,” Yamapi replied.

A few weeks later, they got married without getting a big hoo-ha from the media. The fans gave them their blessings and they are working together slowly to make this marriage work.

Over time, Linda and Yamapi managed to know each other traits and personalities better. They often fight and had disagreements a lot but they learnt to compromise with each other. Not only that, they are anxious for the arrival of their unexpected baby.

60 years later.

“Tomohisa, I never thought our marriage hold on this far. I hope that we will be together forever,” Linda said, one night.

Yamapi smiled and rubbed her cheek. “Silly, of coz we will,” he replied.

“I have never told you this. Tomohisa, I love you. I never regret a single moment of our marriage together,” she whispered.

He smiled. “I love you too,” he replied back.

Both of them closed their eyes and passed away silently in each other’s arms in that warm night, their fated love burning strong.
